Below is a list of the most common events happening year round in Los Cabos. When planning your wedding weekend, you and your guests may find interesting to explore and dive more deeply into the local scene, and get a more authentic experience during your Cabo trip.
THURSDAYS ART WALK
The San Jose del Cabo Art Walk is a popular weekly event held every Thursday evening from 5pm to 9pm between the months of November and June. Enjoy an evening stroll through the Gallery District, visiting the Art Galleries, sipping wine and dining in the neighborhood's restaurants.
Often galleries will have special events such as “artist in attendance” or openings of new exhibitions. With the ever-growing popularity of the Art Walk, downtown San José as a whole is bustling on Thursday evenings but the heart, soul and sophistication of this weekly event lies within the borders of the Gallery District inside the galleries, located behind the church and main square.
PRO-TIP: If you plan to stay for dinner in the area, we recommend to make reservations in advance.
FRIDAYS AT AMELIA WILKES - Viva la Plaza
“Viva La Plaza”, is a rejuvenation of Amelia Wilkes Plaza on Friday nights. The public square known as Amelia Wilkes Plaza in downtown Cabo San Lucas with its picturesque gazebo and gardens, is under revitalization and is the site for weekly art and cultural events under the designation of “Viva la Plaza!”
The event takes place every Friday evening, 5 p.m.–9 p.m., and includes vintage crafts, gastronomy, and pieces by Mexican artisans. The park encompasses a city block and is bounded by Lazaro Cardenas, Miguel Hidalgo, Francisco Madero, and Avenue Cabo San Lucas. The Viva La Plaza event can become the new Cabo San Lucas “Art Walk.”
LA COYOTA & ARTESANOS
Treasure hunting in Cabo San Lucas! Arrived and entered the fantasy world at La Coyota. This place was a beautiful old colonial-style hacienda, with each room containing different themes and every conceivable surface is shoppable. You could easily spend hours here going through all the incredible Mexican crafts and ceramics around the house, and find hard time deciding which one to take home!
Artesanos is a two story building loaded with handicrafts from all over México and Indonesia. They have all sorts of neat stuff to sort through. If you like to shop this place might interest you. It is located on the service road alongside the corridor road. Open 9am to 2pm Monday thru Saturday.
GLASS FACTORY
Just one mile away from the downtown area of Cabo San Lucas, you can find a unique and fascinating Hand Blown Glass Factory, for many years this was the only glass factory in the Baja Peninsula. The best time to go is between 6 am and 2 pm, while the place is humming with activity. The artisans use recycled glass to make beautiful creations. You can easily find a tour agency that offers escorted visits to the factory with a guide or you can take a taxi and run on your own time. Watching the artisans at their craft is mesmerizing, and the best part is that there's a shop on-site that features functional items like glasses, plates, and pitchers as well as decorative items, you can also ask for custom orders
ORGANIC MARKET
The San José Mercado Orgánico (SANJOMO) has been around since 2002. The market is located at “La Huerta Maria” (located directly in front of the Jockey Club / road to Las Animas) near downtown San José Del Cabo. The market opens from 9am to 3pm. The San José Del Cabo Organic Market looks to promote and create a multicultural market by providing a space for the sale of locally grown organic products, prepared food, arts and crafts, as well as a forum of educational activities for the community.
SPORTS
Water activities & Watersports
Cooling off on the main beach in Cabo San Lucas is a people-watchers’ dream. El Medano beach, a short walk from downtown, is also a mecca for water sports. With calm waters most of the time, the goings-on in the bay are a spectator sport alone. Various watercraft cruise the beach, vying for position with the crowd. Water-skiers bob and twist, Yamaha wave-runners churn more waves, and parasailers look down from brightly colored rigs. In the distance, graceful kayaks glide towards Land’s End as paddles dip and gleam in the golden sun. Glass bottom boats ply the curious out to the arch, the culmination of Baja California’s nearly 1,000-mile long peninsula. In Cabo San Lucas, the only limit is your budget and energy level.
Golf
The entire Los Cabos area, in the span of a few short years, has become one of North America’s hottest golf destinations—and it’s no wonder. Los Cabos Golf Courses are some of the best you can play.
- Cabo Del Sol
- Cabo Real
- Cabo San Lucas Country Club
- Club Campestre San José Golf
- Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club
Fishing
Cabo San Lucas is known as the “Marlin Capital of the World” and deservedly so, as there are more marlin caught here than any other place on earth. Unlike other well-known sport fishing destinations, where days, and many dollars can be spent in pursuit of this most prized sport fish, it is not unusual to capture one or even more on your very first trip, whether you are a beginner or an expert. Not only will you experience the thrill of battling a creature of incredible beauty and size, or landing smaller species and eating them, your fishing excursion gives you an opportunity to view the Cape and its landmarks from a unique perspective and often allows you to get a close up look at whales, dolphins and seals.
TOURS
- Whale Watching: December to April Los Cabos is on the migration route of the humpback whales that swim down to tropical waters off Mexico’s Pacific Coast to calve.
