Be An Inspiration

Be An Inspiration
June 01, 2017

Just when we were thinking we’d only dipped our toes into 2017, June 1st rolled around and reminded us that we’re already almost halfway through the year.  If you’re as surprised about June’s arrival as we are—wasn’t it just March?—you’re probably in need of some serious inspiration to get you through the busy season. We’re so excited, then, for this month’s theme: Be an inspiration.

We’re spending the month of June sharing tricks, tips and tidbits for inspiring yourself and your team. I especially love today’s quote to help us kick off this theme, then, as it ties together the idea of being an inspiration and being a leader. For those of us who are shy or reserved, the idea of being a leader can be a bit intimidating: People looking at me? No thanks. We often think of being a leader as some indescribable, unattainable quality that we might be able to tap into if only we had time to attend more motivational speeches or participate in more trust falls. But today’s quote strips all of the “Which jungle animal are you and what does that say about your ability to lead?” nonsense from the notion of leadership and instead ties it to only one thing: your ability to inspire.

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more,” Adams says, “you are a leader.” Simple, right? Perhaps rather than focusing on How do I become a leader? we start shifting our focus more to How do I become an inspiration? When we focus on the power of our actions rather than on some hyped-up personality trait we may or may not be born with, suddenly things become so much more simple and clear. In order to lead our team, we must simply inspire our team—which we can do through our daily actions, the things we say, the way we run our business, the ideas we share, and the way we interact with and treat others. Chances are, you’re already inspiring people every single day without even noticing it.

Today, then, we encourage you to download our wallpaper, set it as your desktop background, and let it remind you to be an inspiration all throughout the month of June. Because, if you can inspire your team, you can most definitely lead it.

Cheers, Aisle Planners, to being an inspiration!
